JOB TITLE: Kitchen Assistant
REPORTS TO: Director of Food Services
DEPARTMENT: Food Services
STATUS: PT Non-Exempt
Lebanon Rescue Mission considers every position one of ministry and a vital and valued part of our team. Therefore, it is essential that all employees of Lebanon Rescue Mission have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and subscribe to our Statement of Faith and Qualifications for Employment. Additionally, employees must be willing to lead and/or participate in Bible study, prayer, devotions, and sharing the Gospel.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: Working in the kitchen at the Men’s Campus on Bittner Blvd. Assisting the Director of Food Services in various way during the early morning hours. Sharing the love of Christ through the service of food.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Make coffee first thing upon arrival and refill before shift end
- Prepare, serve and clean up breakfast services for all men’s campus guests
- Clean up all dishes before end of shift
- Clear and clean counter tops, stove & grill
- Clean dining room tables
- Run kitchen laundry and mops
- Fill creamer and sugar before shift end
- Clean coffee/tea area
- Spot clean refrigerator doors
- Keep temperature records for Freezer and Refrigerator
- Mix beverages in gallon pitchers
- Make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and put in freezer for men who are working
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ that is demonstrated by a lifestyle of obedience to God’s Word
- Ministry minded, mature Christian with the passionate belief and commitment to invest in individuals, demonstrating Christ’s love and grace through relationship healing and practical assistance.
- Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ; good familiarity with God’s word
- Must have a teachable spirit
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to listen
- Good analysis and discernment skills, able to facilitate the identification and resolution of guest issues
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a sometimes unpredictable work environment while achieving program goals and meeting deadlines
- Honest, perceptive, adaptive, compassionate, and trustworthy
- Organized with regard to people, things, and information, including excellent time management skills
- Current Pennsylvania driver’s license
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
(Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%)
- Work will involve interactions with a diverse guest population and involves working with people who struggle with mental illness, addiction, may be under the influence of alcohol and/or substances, and/or have poor personal hygiene.
- Work is primarily indoors
- Requires the ability to think, develop, speak, hear, stand, sit, walk – continuously
- Lift and move up to 25lbs, occasionally
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Prior kitchen experience
- Serve Safe certificate or willingness to take class and get certified
